The Appeal of Penny Auction Sites

If Penny Auction Sites are nothing more than a scam, then why can’t people simply stay away from these sites? Oh yeah, you can win big-ticket items at very low prices, right? Though most people know that it’s highly unlikely they’d ever win some big prize and that they could be better off saving their money- some are still unable to resist and still opt to buy bid packs.

If Penny Bidding Sites are as nefarious and true to their online reputations, why do they remain ‘Legit’? Why are consumer watchdogs turning a blind eye on these reprehensible internet hucksters known as Penny Bidding sites? Aren’t they alarming enough to have consumers up in arms? Not really. I don’t see the BBB or some big brother government trying to shut down these penny sites off their territories.

Penny Bidding sites are legal as far as the laws of the internet and the country they operate in are concern. Because like porn and gambling, Penny Auctions are entitled to exist, we may not like them- what they stand for and how they operate- but no one’s forcing anyone to sign up. You sign up at your own risk. And if you do decide to risk it, you better know what you’re in for! And just like porn and gambling, there’s no going back once you’re hooked! That’s how unequivocally engaging and addicted these penny bid sites are. It’s a cheap and quick thrill where the returns are ruled by probability, chance and luck.

Penny Auction Tips for Beginners

Know What the Rules are Before You Play
Nothing is FREE my friend. If there's some gimmick on a penny auction website that you're getting something for free, chances are, you're not. Its a hook-and-bait thing. Kinda like happy meals at MickeyDs to draw in the kids. You think you're getting the toy for free, but in reality you're not, you're paying for the meal full-price. Same with bid sites- you sign in and you play, you get charged for a bid pack or for a membership to play.

If you want the fun without the hassles, pay your dues and know what you're up for. You don't want hidden charges on your debit or credit card showing up later on without your consent.
  • Understand the Math.
  • Probabilities Matter.
  • Make the Odds Work to your Advantage.
Chance is just part of the equation, you gotta have your game on, there's strategy to consider like when to bid and who you're bidding against (is it a penny hustler? or a bot? or grandpa?) What's the possibility you'd win something after maxing out all those bidpacks?

Reality is, you're bound to win something, the question is- would that item be worth all the bidpacks you spent? If its an iPad 3, then that's killer! but if you keep winning gift coupons and small items, maybe penny bidding isn't really the thing to spend your internet hours on.

Always keep in mind:
  • Have coffee on standby. No beer!
  • Keep those trigger fingers at bay until the last second
  • nd the most important thing- Have fun!

The Big Deal with Auction and Bidding Sites

The web has a motherload of deals out there, just waiting for you to tap into that huge discount pool. Tech gadgets and mobile devices are flat out expensive, but that doesn't mean you have to settle paying for it at store prices. Gift giving either way, doesn't have to be a burden.

Take it from me, the web can be your friend in finding the best deals around. You can scour auction sites and online shops (big ones like Ebay and Amazon) or do the local trade routes with Craigslist, Oodle and Gumtree) or you can even go bid with the kids at penny auction sites and just try your luck!

With penny bidding sites you can bid for the product of your choice or buy it flat out at a discounted price- most of the time its a win-win situation. There are a lot pennybidding sites you can try out for starters- bidcactus, quibids, speedyfinger and ziinga UK.

Like I said, the web can be your shopping ally, if you know where to look. And what make these sites so great is that deals and discounts come out frequently.

What is Shill Bidding?

Shill Bidding is a fraudulent bidding tactic that has its roots on traditional auction, it is intended to drive up the prices of an item in an auction. Shilling is a known technique used by scrupulous auctioneers.

Auction hucksters usually plant one of their own in the crowd of bidders to rev up interest in an otherwise dull item, the fake bidder will then raise the stakes and seeming importance of an otherwise cheap or ordinary item. The same thing happens online, but besides having fake accounts bidding on an item, some eauction sites have automated bot bidders to raise the going price at the last second of the auction. Though generally the Terms of Agreement of any auction sites disavows using bots or any form of shilling, it remains difficult to prove and it does happen. If you suspect shill bidding is occurring on a penny bidding auction site, then better cancel your subscription with them or let other users know of your auction experience. You may also check Penny watchdog forums and penny site reviews regarding the experiences of fellow penny bidders.
